Glow! Humboldt Arts Festival Fashion Show

HSU Graduation weekend is already creeping up on us. For the Humboldt art lovers, this means the Humboldt Arts Festival! Humboldt style lovers can delight in the Glow! local fashion shows (yes there are 2 shows this time!) at HumBrews and Jambalaya.

Glow! fashion shows will be exclusively Humboldt county designers and models. The first show (Saturday May 12 2pm)is at HumBrews and will feature the Blue Angel Burlesque dancers. The second show (Sunday May 13 4pm) is at Jambalaya and will showcase tribal belly dance. Expect to see ongoing local favorites Sacred Empire, Baki, Mystery School and Royal Roots.

I will be behind the scenes styling models prior to the show. Hope to see all you local style sisters & brothers in the audience! These shows promise artful fashion fun to accent an already spectacular Humboldt Art Festival Weekend!!

Well On My Way!

Just need to give major thanks to Angie & Trevor at Marathon Training Academy www.marathontrainingacademy.com

They make supremely interesting & inspirational podcasts to help me train sustainably and stay motivated. You can also find their podcasts in the iTunes store, just search Marathon Training Academy.

If you are a more seasoned endurance athlete & MTA seems a little bit remedial for you (or if you can't get enough of this kinda thing) also check out Endurance Planet. Triathlete & nutrition expert Ben Greenfield has some great solutions, especially for those of us that are confounded by all the crazy diet advice out there.

Happy Running!!!

OPI GelPolish Update

Raven's nails ended up lasting 4 weeks! This photo is from day 24. Over those 24 days she spent 14 adventuring in Kauai- surfing, sandcastles & swinging from trees!!! The staying power was really impressive.

Rolling Stoned

Happy Monday! A rolling stone gathers no moss! .....But wait, I like moss. It's the Monday after my kids' spring break & we are all stoned tired from a week of lotsa food & general lollygagging.
Even after the most yellow mellow spring break ever we still had a hard time getting back to the school day schedule. I though this picture looked just like my kids this morning :)

Scarves~ Man Style

Scarves for Men
Ralph Lauren Black Label, Margaret Howell
Chilly spring weekend coziness.

Hey Mr. You! You like scarves, right? No?!......Why not?

A scarf is warm, cozy & it turbocharges your appeal to the ladies. Visually, a scarf adds stature and can be a great accent for eyes and smile.

You get this in theory, right? You just don't see how it can be done without looking sissy. Any scarf at the wrong time (like manwork or cooking) is totally sissy. What keeps a scarf from being sissy is the timing and the style.

If its chilly & you're doing something social or casual, scarves are super hot. If your scarf is ever in the way or awkward it is so not hot.

Look for styles in heavy gauge wool knits or oversize woven scarves in rich drapy cashmere. Deep earthy tones in your natural palette colors are sophisticated and emasculating.

Things that make a scarf kinda sissy? Prints, loud colors unless they are the color of your eyes, embroidered designs, logos, soft gauzy materials, tassels. Makes sense right? Leave the pretty stuff for the girls that will be reeling you in by your soft & cozy affirmation of comfort and stature (yer scarf, silly).
